Keep them in prayer. Last week’s Gospel challenged us to be less wasteful with our time, talents and treasures. Good time to evaluate ourselves. Fr. Martin BULLETIN INSERT NOTICE: This announcement is for all parish organizations and their leaders. Recently there has been in influx of requests for bulletin inserts. While some of these may be important to a group, we recommend that inserts be limited. Please place announcements in the bulletin. To print and insert 1,300 flyers in the bulletin for a handful of people is not being a good steward of God’s creation. If it is absolutely necessary to have an insert, it must be one page, bi-lingual, and approved before having it printed and inserted. Each group is responsible for printing, and inserting a flier in the bulletin. If possible, try to have someone translate it unless other arrangements have been made. FEED THE KIDS: We are looking for a very special volunteer – a Supply Sargeant to order supplies (paper plates, utensils, nitrile gloves, bulk items, etc.), monitor the inventory, and distribute supplies where needed. There is some lifting, probably 10 lbs. or less, and some driving. Time required is approx. 8 hours a month. PRIESTS’ RETIREMENT AND BENEFITS COLLECTION: Our parish received $18,014 in contributions to the Priests’ Retirement and Benefits Collection last week. We are grateful for the generosity of our parishioners. Our assessment is $43,000. There are additional envelopes available in the parish office for those who did not receive one in the mail. Our Capuchins receive a percentage of this collection that goes toward funding their infirmary for ailing Friars. 26º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario En este domingo como en el pasado el lenguaje de Amós suena claro y directo para las personas que disfrutaban de las comodidades de sus bienes materiales, sin pensar, mucho menos compartir, con los oprimidos. Recordemos que en tiempos del profeta Amós se vivían tiempos prósperos pero las riquezas las controlaban unos pocos. Por lo tanto la pobreza abundaba. A pesar de las circunstancias la voz del profeta anuncia esperanza --Dios actuará en favor de los oprimidos, los injustos recibirán las consecuencias de sus actos: "¡Ay de ustedes, los que se sienten seguros en Sión y los que ponen su confianza en el monte sagrado de Samaria!" (Am 6, 1). Este texto está basado en la destrucción de Samaria en el año 722 a.c. y a la deportación que se llevó a cabo. Por consecuencia la parábola de hoy nos habla directamente a tomar una actitud de conversión. El poseer riquezas no es malo sino lo malo es el apego a ellas. Solo existen dos caminos, el que lleva a la vida y el que lleva a la perdición. Jesús lo explica mejor cuando hace mención de las bienaventuranzas. "Dichosos ustedes los pobres, porque de ustedes es el Reino de Dios" (Lc 6, 20). Y en el mismo pasaje nos dice. "Pero, ¡ay de ustedes, los ricos, porque ya tienen ahora su consuelo!" (Lc 6, 24). El Evangelio nos indica en todo momento el modo de vivir practicando la justicia, haciéndolo seremos misericordiosos. ¡Eso es lo que Dios espera de nosotros día a día! ¿A quién represento en mi vida, a Lázaro o al rico?

Curso de Planificación Familiar Natural La parroquia de San Bernabé en Arden, NC estará ofreciendo un Curso de Planificación Familiar Natural el Sábado, 1 de Octubre de 10:00AM a 2:00PM. Este curso explica una serie de métodos para posponer un embarazo o para lograrlo, basándose, por una parte, en la observación de la fertilidad de la mujer, y, por otra, en la adecuación de la actividad sexual de los esposos a dicha fertilidad. EL BAUTISMO Los bautizos son el primer domingo del mes, después de la Misa de la 1:30 PM. La clase de preparación, que es un requisito para los padres y padrinos, tendrá lugar el sábado a las 10 AM, en el Salón San Francisco. Por favor lleven una copia del acta de nacimiento (No se aceptan tarjetas, tiene que ser una acta con ambos nombres de los papás). Requisitos para ser padrinos: Ser bautizado y tener la intención de asumir las responsabilidades, tener uso de razón, haber cumplido 18 años, estar confirmado, haber hecho su Primera Comunión y llevar una vida de fe. Los padrinos han de ser solteros o casados por la Iglesia Católica. No pueden vivir en unión libre, ya que deben de ser modelos de vida cristiana para los ahijados. Si son mayores deberán atender la clase de la Primera Comunión y un mes antes de terminar la Primera Comunión serán Bautizados. LA PRESENTACIÓN DE LOS NIÑOS Cada segundo domingo del mes se invita a los niños y niñas que cumplen los tres años ese mes para recibir una bendición especial, junto con sus padres y padrinos. Al igual que José y María cuando llevaron al Niño Jesús al templo para consagrarlo al Señor, también reconocemos que los hijos son de Dios, y a Su servicio y cuidado se los encomendamos. Para poder participar, deberá darle al Padre Roberto un papelito con el nombre del niño o la niña claramente escrito antes de empezar la Misa. El Padre Roberto los invitará a subir al santuario después de la celebración de la Eucaristía. INFORMACIÓN SOBRE DONDE CONSEGUIR AYUDA Si quiere saber a donde y como conseguir ayuda para atención médica, cuidado de niños, necesidades básicas como comida, alojamiento, luz y agua, consejería, u otros servicios humanitarios, solo tiene que marcar el 2-1-1 y explicarle a la operadora cual es su necesidad. Se habla español de 3 a 7 PM, y le darán el nombre, dirección y teléfono de la agencia donde puedan prestarle ayuda.
